IUI is one of the most popular treatment modality in infertility. It is a simple/inexpensive . Affordable one. It is easier than assisted reproduction technologies like IVF and costs less painless/precise simple easy atransmatic. Much more cheaper than IVF.

Procedure

Bolus of concentrated motile, morphologically normal and capacitated sperms are deposited in uterine cavity very near to the opening of ostia of fellopian tubes at the time of ovulation.

Prerequisites

• Proper selection of patients for IUI should be appropriate.
• Should be at least 5-10 Million motile sperms.
• In female at least one Fallopian Tube should be patent
• Patient should be capable of ovulating.
• Endometrium should be normal

Proper selection of patients, meticulous monitoring by follicular study and controlled ovarian stimulation and proper timing od IUI. But in our hospital success rate is high and give excellent results.

The success rate is 20%. If 3-6 IUI fails, then without wasting much time – IVF should be recommended.
